Laung (Clove, Syzygium aromaticum) is the dried flower bud of an evergreen tree native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. The tree grows up to 812 meters tall and features glossy, aromatic leaves and clusters of small flower buds that turn from green to reddish-brown when mature. Cloves are rich in volatile oils, primarily eugenol, along with tannins and flavonoids. Widely used as a spice, cloves are valued for their strong aroma and flavor and are also incorporated in various traditional herbal preparations.
